8(m) Woman Owned Small Business Certification Program

For the first time ever, federal contracting officers have the authority to setaside contracts for women in business up to $3 million for products and services and $5 million in manufacturing.  We have already helped more than 850 Woman Owned Businesses certify for this program in 2011.

The 8(m) Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) will be one of the most successful federal certification programs throughout the history of setaside programs for small businesses. Although the program got off to a slow start, women that get certified and learn the program early on, will no doubt come out as winners in 2012. 

Setasides the Ultimate Goal 

Federal agencies for many years have had difficulty meeting their woman owned small business contracting goals.  Now federal contracting officers have the authority to set aside contracts to work with woman owned businesses in effort to meet their goals. 23% of all federal contracting dollars go to small businesses.

The goal for the 8(m) WOSB program is 5% of all federal total small business contracts.  That number currently equates to more that 4 Billion this year alone in federal contracting dollars for woman owned businesses, specifically woman owned businesses in the 8(m) WOSB program.

The federal government is creating the demand for services from businesses all over the country in every industry. $294 Billion in contracting dollars has been put into our economy to rebuild our country and generate employment opportunities. Small businesses are the only ones that can and will make employment happen.  When small businesses are not pursuing federal contracts you better believe that the big guys are.
